Many men misuse Anafranil® (clomipramine) in an attempt to delay ejaculation and improve sexual performance. While it may appear to help, the practice is unsafe and harmful.
Anafranil is a tricyclic antidepressant, prescribed mainly for:
1. Depression
2. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
It is not a sexual performance drug.
Why it Delays Ejaculation:
Anafranil alters brain chemicals (serotonin and norepinephrine). This effect can delay ejaculation, but this is a side effect, not a benefit.
Dangers of Misuse
Using Anafranil without medical supervision can lead to:
Erectile dysfunction and reduced libido
Heart rhythm disturbances
Drowsiness, confusion, anxiety, poor concentration
Dry mouth, constipation, weight gain
Drug dependence and withdrawal symptoms
Dangerous interactions with alcohol and other medications
Sexual performance problems should be handled with:
Proper medical assessment
Counseling or behavioral therapy
Approved medications when necessary
Lifestyle modification (stress, sleep, alcohol, exercise)
Delaying ejaculation should never cost your mental or physical health.
Self-medication antidepressants for sex is drug abuse, not treatment.
